What we collect

When you fill out the intake, we collect:

  • The dates you enter (last day of employment, visa expiration, I-94 expiration)
  • Whether your employer filed an H-1B revocation
  • Optional: your employer name (for cap-exempt detection)
  • Your family situation (spouse / kids on H-4, other dependents)
  • Whether you have a job offer pending
  • The pathways you’re considering (transfer / B-2 / depart)
  • Which US-based assets you have (lease, car, 401(k), bank, school)
  • Your email address and optional timezone
  • Which plan you selected (Standard / Priority)

What we explicitly do NOT collect

We do not ask for and do not store:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • I-94 record numbers, A-numbers, USCIS receipt numbers
  • Passport numbers or visa stamp numbers
  • Date of birth
  • Home address (beyond timezone)
  • Phone numbers
  • Employer ID (FEIN), payroll details, or paystub data

The product is designed to deliver useful guidance from minimal input.

Payment data

Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or transmit your card number, CVC, expiration, or billing address. Stripe gives us a session ID and a payment status — that is all we receive.

How we use what we collect

The intake data is used for two things:

  • Generating the personalized PDF action plan
  • Sending the three reminder emails (+24h, +7d, +30d)

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with marketers.

Third-party processors

The service runs on the following infrastructure providers, each with its own privacy stance:

  • Stripe— payment processing (policy)
  • Supabase— database + PDF storage (policy)
  • Resend— transactional email (policy)
  • Vercel— web hosting (policy)
  • Cloudflare— DNS + DDoS protection (policy)

Affiliate & partner links

Some of the service providers we link to — for example on the Departure Cost Calculator — may be affiliate or partner links, which means we may earn a commission if you click through and sign up or make a purchase. It never changes the price you pay, and whether or not a link pays us never changes what we list. Links that earn us nothing are labeled as such.

We use simple click tracking to see which outbound links are useful and which partners actually help our readers — typically a tagged link or an anonymous click count, not a profile of you. We do not sell your personal information. When you click through to a partner you leave our site and continue on their website under their terms and privacy policy, not ours.

Some partners are quote marketplaces or lead-matching services (for example, international moving, freight, and pet-transport marketplaces). If you request a quote there, you’re giving that company your contact details directly, and they may share them with several independent providers who then contact you. We recommend reading each partner’s privacy policy before submitting your information.

Retention

  • Intake data: retained for 90 days after PDF delivery, then deleted
  • Generated PDFs: retained for 90 days, then deleted from storage
  • Email + payment record: retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes

You can request earlier deletion by emailing support@h1bcompass.com with the email you used at checkout.

Cookies

We set one cookie, h1b_session, an HMAC-signed identifier that links your browser to your purchase so you can access the dashboard and download your PDF. It expires after 30 days. We do not run analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party scripts that profile you.

Your rights

Whether you live in the US, EU, UK, California, or anywhere else: you can request a copy of your data, ask us to delete it, or correct it. Email support@h1bcompass.com from the address you used at checkout. We’ll respond within 7 days.

Children

The service is intended for adults dealing with their own immigration status. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

We’ll update the “last updated” date when this policy changes. Material changes that affect existing users will trigger an email.
